The most direct and subtle way to treat wrinkles is to use a filler such as collagen. These fillers are in gel form, and are introduced into the skin by simple small injections to plump out and cushion the skin for a smoother look, instantly removing wrinkles that may have taken years to form; overnight the skin looks younger and refreshed.
How long will it take?
Booking in is simple and treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Why use Restylane or Hylaform?
A small number of people react to Collagen and may want to use non-allergenic Restylane or Hylaform whilst awaiting the result of a collagen sensitivity test. The support and cushioning effect is exactly the same as with collagen, and you may want to continue with these products permanently. Test doses for collagen are free.
All these products use substances that are naturally occurring in the tissues and are absorbed slowly over time.
How many treatments are required?
Fillers are usually charged by the tube. It is most important that new patients understand that two or three tubes may be needed at the first appointment in order to obtain a satisfactory result. Topping up is required two or three times a year depending on the area treated - usually one tube or less is all that is required.

One of the most innovative uses of fillers is to plump out the lips to produce a youthful pout - example Kim Basinger. This technique requires a little more time and it is advisable to have the lips gently frozen with local anaesthetic.
